Fixed: Belkin Router Loses Connection Frequently.

11 05 2008

Just yesterday, I made the ‘mistake’ of purchasing a Belkin Wireless Router (F5D9230-4) and discovered that the lovely features that were packed along with it were all foiled by the elementry method of connecting to the internet completely FAILING and resulting in disconnecting and reconnecting CONSTANTLY.

After 25 minutes and ultimately failing with Belkin’s Tech support (He hung up on me after trying several things that still did not work..) and right before I went to go return the piece of *art* back to Walmart… I tried the simplist thing… Update the FIRMWARE to a version that works.

-BEFORE YOU THROW THIS OUT AS A POSSIBILITY, READ ON-

Turns out Belkin did fix the issue for a number of routers recently and it seems to be something wrong with the firmware that was shipped out… In fact, the pre-installed firmware update tool does not work properly

So I’ve conveniently created a simple link for you to download the latest firmware here for the model I tested for here. If you have another model I’ll look it up but please let me know if this resolves it. I’ll try to work with everyone who is having a problem with their new router, however please remember that I’m not a Belkin employee and will not be able to fix all of your life’s problems, (hopefully) just the Belkin router issues. 11 05 2008

DSL Reports recently published an article that highlights a large, US-based ISP, Comcast, will soon be implementing overage caps on their customer’s internet usage to 250GB/month with 1 free gimmie. Additional bandwidth would be $15/10GB thereafter.

Funny and Talented contestors in Bertolli’s Romantic Video Contest

11 04 2008

So appearantly the gormet frozen food company Bertolli has a video contest going on and are now voting for the top winners in their competition. A couple of them are very humorous while the other two feature a very talented singer (Bravissimo Bertolli) and a romantic night as a 25 year strong couple (1300 Dinner & Counting VID). My personal favorite was Sidney & Phoebe and their hilarious take on their “people’s” romantic life.

However my vote went off to Bravissimo Bertolli’s performance. She has an incredible voice that the video just did not give justice to.

YOU go ahead and vote and you’ll have the opportunity to have a nice trip up to NYC to premere:

  • Airfare to and from New York City
  • Transportation to and From the Airport
  • Luxury Hotel accommodations for a 2-night stay
  • The chance to meet celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito
  • Two invitations to the premiere and party where you’ll meet the winners

Hey, it’s free and you’ve handed out your address and phone number to countless web forms in the past, why not give it to a legitimate food company too? =P

The PS3 Laptop!

11 04 2008

Ringing in at only 16 lbs. comes the PS3 laptop, complete with… You guessed it! A PS3!

This creative reconception of the PS3 is just another one of Ben Heck’s last console recreations.

Just thought I’d share.

Microsoft cries over Yahoo… again.

11 04 2008

Appearantly Microsoft had this to say after Yahoo decided to test Adsense along side their search results:

“Any definitive agreement between Yahoo! and Google would consolidate over 90% of the search advertising market in Google’s hands. This would make the market far less competitive, in sharp contrast to our own proposal to acquire Yahoo! We will assess closely all of our options.”

Hold up… Microsoft is saying that a definitive agreement would consolidate over 90% of Search Advertising… making it far less competitive? And this is coming from a company that has had a monopoly of Operating systems and the Internet Browser Market for how long?
