Appearantly Microsoft had this to say after Yahoo decided to test Adsense along side their search results:
“Any definitive agreement between Yahoo! and Google would consolidate over 90% of the search advertising market in Google’s hands. This would make the market far less competitive, in sharp contrast to our own proposal to acquire Yahoo! We will assess closely all of our options.”
Hold up… Microsoft is saying that a definitive agreement would consolidate over 90% of Search Advertising… making it far less competitive? And this is coming from a company that has had a monopoly of Operating systems and the Internet Browser Market for how long?

the owner of a large website and VPN hosting company personally contacted me after repeated attempts to best the Cisco URT client with this:
What’s up with that Dorm anyways? It has to be the most restrictive network I have seen, even worse than China.
I give up on this network. It’s pretty bad having a network admin with a total lockdown policy on UDP and P2P connections, MOV & MP3 download throttling to <1kb/s… and makes moderation of my most prized site VERY difficult…
I want to hear about how your dorm network! What college you’re at, if restricts traffic, for certain extensions, etc.. Afterall, if you’re going to be paying for the housing costs, you have THE RIGHT to know!
Auburn University Montgomery is not the place to go if you are even a casual gamer, use Skype, download MP3s, are a bittorrent fan, P2P network user or like to surf the web during peak hours.

Ventrilo 3 still sucks. Did anyone really see the new ‘features’ in Ventrilo 3 as needed, wanted, or otherwise? Basically, I think that Flag was building a product for himself and collecting royalties from server companies.
Network Administrator doesn’t feel like opening the port 16 weeks after requesting and checking back every couple of weeks…
Flagship DID release an article 2 weeks after my first writing blasting Flag. It was great that he finally responded, but it basically pointed right back at the network administrator. Flippin Flag, you lazy developer. Back to square one.
Flag ship refuses to make any changes to support networks similar to my dorm that block just about every UDP connection. Like mine. If you’re like the many people having Ventrilo 3 issues like “Msg: Synchronizing”, PLEASE rant here: Ventrilo Forum Post
K. Rant done. Comment and rant here too if need be.

I just recently got my server from server beach and I’m pretty happy with it so far. Support called me only an hour or so after the order went in to confirm my order and within 4 hours it was setup and ready for me to play with. I’ll be moving this blog over to it soon from my 1 & 1 shared account.
For those looking for a good coupon, use this coupon code below when you checkout and you’ll get $100 off after you’ve been with Server Beach for 90 days. You’ll also be helping me out a great deal trying to alleviate the costs of the server and you’ll benefit too!

Update #1: My post was removed minutes after submitting it.
Just learned that the Ventrilo support forums is not the place to ask for support requests. I viewed this move as very unprofessional considering the following:
- The only method of support on Ventrilo is through these forums
- Server companies are not trained to handle such issues
- There companies that do only Ventrilo hosting, I seriously suggest they look into backup solutions should Flagship Industries cease to operate for whatever reason or even just lose client appeal. (Back to Business101)
FLAG HAS SPOKEN: He’s not going to respond.
Original Post:
I’ve been having problems using Ventrilo 3 on my university’s network recently and apparantly there’s been a lot of questions floating as to when a patch will be available for the now UDP reliant Vent3. So I posted the following on the Ventrilo 3 forums:

I found myself in a situation where a lot of my friend’s weren’t quite happy with Ventrilo’s latest version release. So I wrote a quick guide to keep them on on vent server.
Although 3 sounds like a *great* release, I can’t use it because of my school’s strict network policy. I can’t ping anything, so when attempting to use someone please explain the logic in this please….

With the release of ventrilo 3.0 yesterday, many people find themselves stuck in a virtual corner for whatever reason and ultimately unhappy with the new release. When it comes to the ventrilo 2.0 servers, you may just be out of luck unless someone hasn’t updated their ventrilo server yet.
If you’re anything like me, in a dorm situation using the Cisco URT Client, the new release of ventrilo is dead in the water and will not connect to any servers. Don’t have a solution. Sorry. But If you want to do something about it, make it known that you’re having this problem over at the Ventrilo Forums at THIS POST.
